I opened the local newspaper last week and was in for a surprise. There wasn't one, but two articles on stamps and stamp collecting. When was the last time you saw that? The first article focused on stamps taht the USPS was issuing in 2008. There were some stamps images accompanying the article. It was a rather positive story.

The recent sale of an inverted Jenny was the point of the other article. The stamp sold for $825.000. Another Jenny sold for $850.00 just a month earlier. (At this rate of decline-$25,000 per month, I figure another three years and I might be able to afford an inverted Jenny!) The $825,000 stamp sold in 1974 for $47,000.

It was nice to see two stamp collecting articles in the regular newspaper. Maybe it'll get non-collectors interested.
